Packing for a shoot abroad is all about keeping things to a minimum for me personally—bringing everything I need without overpacking. Over the years, I’ve developed a go-to list that keeps me organised and ready for my travels.
Here’s a look at what’s in my travel kit:
Item | Details |
Printed out sheets for photoshoot | Creative pdfs and call sheets. |
Camcorder + Batteries | For video content. |
Film Camera + Batteries + External Flash + Flash Batteries | My primary camera setup. |
Digital Camera + Camera Batteries + Speedlite + Flash Batteries | For backup and flexibility on set. |
SD Cards | Plenty of storage for digital backups. |
Camera Tripods | For stability and precision. |
Protects film from airport X-rays.
External Phone Charger | Battery for phone whilst on the go. |
For labeling and organising film rolls.
Bum Bag | Quick access to film and essentials. |
Portable Music Dock Speaker | Adds atmosphere for shoots. |
Small and large options for versatility.
Film Rolls | As well as extra film rolls. |
Continuous Light & Stand | Key for low-lit conditions. |
Keeps gear clean and in top condition. |
When it comes to luggage, I use my trustee Carl Friedrik travel luggage for both carry-on and checked baggage. They’re sleek, durable, and perfect for keeping everything organised. I also recommend Level 8 for an equally reliable option. Having a collapsable bag for carry-on lugage on board a flight is becoming increasingly vital. I've had countless times where my hand luggae even within exact requirements as a hard case be told it must go into the hold. Always be prepared!
